Our Spring Food Drive has begun! In previous years, we spent the month of May collecting food for impoverished families in our community. We then delivered the food to local ministries for their summer months of higher demand.
With the COVID-19 crisis, however, the need is now!
WFCM Executive Director Harmonie Taddeo noted, “We are receiving calls from current clients whose work hours have been reduced, clients who have not needed WFCM’s assistance for a number of years but now do again due to their employers closing and kids at home, and calls from households we’ve never served before but who now are without income due to furloughs at work. With your support, we are able to continue our operations ensuring these clients remain housed and fed.”
For safety reasons, WFCM cannot receive donations from individuals. So churches hosting food drives are immensely critical for the WFCM staff to serve the growing demand. We will collect food at CPC, then take the food to WFCM. All donations will then be quarantined for 48 hours before it is placed on shelves for families.
Most needed items in the food pantry this month:
- Canned Fruit
- Hamburger Helper
- Vegetable Oil
- Sugar (1 or 2 lb. bags)
