CPC’s Response.
Through various virtual conversations, the Missions Ministry and Care Fund Team have been active this week. Recent decisions and actions include:
1) CPC will provide boxed lunches from Moe’s Restaurant (Chantilly) for New Hope Fellowship. NHF will distribute the lunches on Easter Sunday to the unhoused men and women of their congregation at the Lamb Center. CPC’s Care Fund is providing the resources for this purchase.
2) CPC’s Weekend Food Assembly Team packed 70 bags of snack and breakfast items for New Hope to distribute on Easter.
3) Instead of pot roasts, CPC will also provide boxed lunches from Moe’s for our 3rd Tuesday lunch at the Lamb Center. While they LOVE our pot roasts, at this time the staff needs to serve individually wrapped meals. If you have a pot roast, please prepare it then freeze it. We will return to roasts when this COVID-19 crisis is over!
4) With Care Fund resources, Brad Pool purchased and delivered 10 tents to be distributed by the staff at the Lamb Center. The area’s hypothermia program for unhoused people in our community ends this week. They need shelter.
5) With Care Fund resources, Sharon Hoover purchased $400 of most-needed items for Western Fairfax Christian Ministries.
6) We are setting up additional ways for our congregation to respond. Please see below…
Gift Cards. To serve our local school partners, we are collecting Giant and WalMart gifts cards of all values. During these challenging days, gift cards are the most efficient and safe way for families to receive food. If you are able, get a gift card with each grocery visit and then mail it to CPC 15450 Lee Highway, Centreville 20120 (attn: Sharon Hoover). Thank you!
Coming SOON: CPC’s Spring Food Drive! Our local partner, WFCM, is in great need of food and hygiene donations. We will be placing large covered bins outside our church building to receive donations. While we wait for the bins to arrive, please begin shopping now. The high-demand items on their Amazon Wish List are hard to come by. We will let you know as soon as the bins are here.
