With thanksgiving and in spite of pandemic issues, we want to bless our neighbors through a special Christmas collection. Our focus this year is Western Fairfax Christian Ministries (WFCM).
Each Christmas CPC spotlights the need of a mission partner and ways for us to respond. Last year we raised funds for our ministry partner in Nepal. Through his ministry of New Life Mission (NLM), Pastor Philemon Chhetri trains local pastors and plants churches in difficult to reach places throughout Nepal. Some pastors are in the capitol city, Kathmandu, but many walk for days to reach villages to preach the gospel. The Himalayan region is not only challenging physically, but it is also hostile to the gospel message. Last year we raised funds to help support new pastors and missionaries. Some of these funds were also used for food and relief from the Covid pandemic.
2020 Focus: WFCM’s Hope for Housing
Homelessness looms for many local families. Covid has resulted in significant job loss for low-income wage earners. Without a salary, rent cannot be paid. CPC mission partner WFCM bridges the gap by providing emergency housing funds until longer, sustainable solutions can be attained.
This year’s Advent Missions Giving will come alongside WFCM to help families stay housed. On average, WFCM provides $600 for one month as an emergency transition (about $20 a day).
Our 2020 goal is $20,000 for 1,000 days of emergency funds. Every $20 given is another day a family stays in their home. Join us as we share the hope for housing this Christmas!
