Deacons and Caring Ministry

Rev. Chris Hammond is a bi-vocational minister. On a part-time basis, he provides overall pastoral support at CPC and serves as the staff liaison to CPC’s deacons. Full-time, he is a federal career civil servant. He is an ICF-certified coach, working with clients to clarify values and to set personal and professional goals.

After being ordained in 1999, Chris served as the associate pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Huntsville, Alabama, with a primary focus on adult discipleship. Upon returning to the DC area, he became a parish associate at Vienna Presbyterian Church in 2005. Since joining ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians in 2012, he has supported East Central Presbytery as its stated clerk, the chair of its theological task force, and a member of its Permanent Judicial Commission.

Chris holds an M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary, an M.A. in English from Emory University, and a B.A. in English from the University of California, Berkeley. Chris and his wife Elizabeth have two children, James and Claire.
