Serving your Community and Church
I would relate that God can use imperfect people, people who don’t feel they are qualified to do whatever the job is. I have had several volunteer positions at CPC and my old church and didn’t feel completely qualified for any of them. I am serving as leader of the women’s evening Bible Study which is open not only to church members, but to invited friends as a form of outreach. We are studying 1 Peter. My evening Bible study ladies will, I am sure, be willing to share that I most certainly do not have all the answers and I am learning along with them. I see myself as a facilitator and as such organize things so that our group can get together and study God’s word together. For so many positions at CPC that is the case, the leaders love God and desire to do His will in some way whether it be working with the children’s ministry, buying food or preparing food for the Lamb Center, putting weekend meals for London Towne Elementary School kids in bags, tutoring London Town parents in English, preparing coffee or bringing treats for church on Sundays (pre-Covid), working in the vegetable garden or leading a Life Group.
1 Peter 4:10 NIV says “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” I know that in our study, we have all been drawn closer to God and to each other as a result of our studies. I know that several in our study have gone on to work with the English program for the parents at London Towne and some have left to join the Stephen’s Ministry, and some have participated in some of the church missions. God can use everyone!
