Each Christmas CPC spotlights the need of a mission partner and ways for us to respond. Last year we raised funds for New Hope Fellowship — a congregation of the poor and homeless in Fairfax — to rehab and expand their worship space. Through the abundance of funds raised, New Hope also was able to purchase a used 15-passenger van. Transportation is a huge need for this community!

This year we turn our attention toward a global need. Housing. Our mission partner in Guatemala, the Erickson family, serve in a church with a big vision. Iglesia Del Camino has a goal to build 1,000 houses in the impoverished villages. Our team build one house this past summer for a young widow and her daughter.

These simple yet functional homes are changing lives. Not only do they show the love of Jesus Christ, they present opportunities to verbally share the gospel message. One house at a time, the Mil Casas project is bringing hope to many families.

News from IDC:

The plan is to build 1,000 homes in the Department of Sacatepéquez, Guatemala. Building on the successes of Iglesia Del Camino (theIDC) from past years of experience, targeting families that are stuck in life due to circumstance and situation – families living in homes with cornstalk walls and dirt floors – replacing that structure with a dry, securable and cleanable place to live. Included in this home is a water filtration system, a high efficiency wood burning stove, a set of bunk beds, and a solar panel.

The houses are simply four walls and a roof over a concrete slab, but for the recipient families in Guatemala, it is much more. Having these four walls means having someplace they are proud to call home. Someplace where the rivers from the rain runoff do not run through their homes and under their beds. Someplace where they can function and not be hindered by the elements or be fearful for security. A place where the children are not laughed at because of their lack of a home.

In a study of the homes built between 2011 and 2014 this combination of amenities was proven effective.  – Read the Study

How Can We Help?

CPC Missions invites everyone to join together to help provide the resources to build homes in rural Guatemala.

Each house costs $3,000 to build. We hope to raise $15,000 to build FIVE NEW HOMES. After raising the funds, we will then send a team to build the homes.
