For Parents

Within five miles of our church building, nearly 15,000 middle school and high school students attend ten public schools. Teenagers struggle daily to navigate the rough waters of northern Virginia. We believe that caring friendships among youth and adults can make a difference in a student’s life and in our community. We face huge challenges as we seek to encourage youth to grow in their faith. It is our desire to create an environment where each student is significant and valued. We believe that lives can be transformed through the power of Jesus Christ.

Our ministry year is designed around a series of “seasons”. Our seasons range between four to eight weeks in length and will focus on various Biblical topics as well as the traditional church calendar (to include Advent and Lent).  Each theme will be carried throughout the Sunday morning ministries, evening ministries as well retreats and fellowship events. Between seasons we will have a short period of informal gatherings (such as Sunday morning off-campus’ or dinners at local restaurants).

We are hopeful that “seasons” will allow students to come and go more comfortably within the ministry as they participate in their individual extracurricular activities.  Time commitments to seasonal sports teams and arts productions continue to increase in the lives of our students.   When the commitment has ended, some find it difficult to re-integrate into the student ministry.  With each new season we will have new publicity, new leaders, and new events.  Students and their friends will be making a commitment for 6-8 weeks instead of coming and going throughout a ten-month period. We hope students will participate in as many seasons as possible.  We look forward to the 2011-2012 year being a refreshing and spirit-filled one!

In the summer, we connect through short-term mission projects, conferences (Fun in the Son, The Great Escapes, Creation Festival, Ligonier Camp) and  Wild & Outrageous Wednesdays (W.O.W.s)

As an overview, please check out the “What We Do” tab to your right where you will find information specific to Middle School and High School ministries.  We also offer Parenting Seminars during the school year.

CPC Ministries

Many ministries at the church depend on our students. Students serve in the children’s ministry as nursery and children’s church volunteers as well as teachers for Vacation Bible School, Planet Adventure camp, and special events. CPC students also participate in the life of the church as ushers, greeters and the audio/visual ministry on Sunday mornings. One student also represents our younger generation as the Student Ministry Session Liaison.

Family Counseling Resources

Many families sometimes need additional help to work through difficult times.  Please see our list of counseling resources.

Prayer Team

Of primary importance is our Prayer Ministry. This critical ministry is pro-active in covering every aspect of our lives with prayer. In addition to prayer at home, ministry members can pray on site during events seeking the Lord’s continued guidance in meeting the needs of youth and families in our community. Team members receive requests submitted by email, phone call, and monthly needs list. We pray for specific personal needs as well as for schools, families, and national & international concerns.

We are excited about the adventures that we have undertaken. Join us as we mobilize to impact our community one person at a time!  Seeking to Serve Him,

Sharon Hoover, Director of Student Ministry

Nicole Paullin, Director of Middle School Ministry
