Sunday Mornings

Bridges, Connecting with Muslim NeighborsSpring 2012 Classes

See Your Muslim Neighbors through the Eyes of Jesus

Seven million Muslims live and work among us in North America, and 250,000-300,00 live in the metro Washington, D.C. area. This class will use a 6-week video series by Crescent Project to develop a better understanding of Islam and nurture the heart of each of us as ambassadors to Muslims. Pastor James Cha, who is a called Presbyterian missionary to Muslims, will visit the first session and possibly one of the later ones to provide expert answers to questions which stump the rest of us. Led by Bill Hudspeth with Dennis Stuessi & Dick Tredinnick substituting one Sunday each.  May 6 thru Jun 10 in room 207.

Class for Young Parents – Equipping Parents to Nurture Faith at Home

The demands of parenting can be joyful at best – and also incredibly overwhelming. So often we just get by day– to-day, and we play a constant game of “catch up.” Often our frenetic lifestyles cause us to miss important opportunities to stop and talk with our children about faith. Without an intentional focus, we too often leave the “faith talks” to once-a-week during Sunday School.

But did you know that what Mom and Dad say, and what Mom and Dad do are the primary factors that influence whether or not a child will grow up to have faith?  The formation of faith involves so much more than formal “Christian Education”  – it is the learning and experience of faith through the folds and creases of everyday life.

This spring, CPC is offering a four week  study on Sunday mornings that will equip parents to weave faith through the fabric of their daily routines and family rituals, and will provide parents with a place to share ideas and get to know other families who are also eager, but unsure of how to begin nurturing the faith of their children. Our prayer is that this study will create an opportunity for parents to relate to one another, and will serve as a catalyst to bring together those who are in the best position to help one another! We will meet during the Sunday School hour (10:00am) beginning May 6th, in room 203.
