CPC models Christ through our partnerships with ministries to prevent homelessness, rebuild homes, and build sustainable lives. We recently became aware of a desperate need among families in vulnerable economic situations: People living below the poverty line face a greater risk of house fires than the rest of us. The subsequent loss of property deepens their struggle to emerge from subsistence living.
Why does the risk exist?
- 1 – Electrical wiring in older homes pose a risk, not only due their age but also because they are not equipped for the often overload of appliances, extension cords, space heaters, etc.
- 2 – Impoverished families more often use alternative heating devices that ignite curtains, blankets, and clothing.
- 3 – Children spend more hours alone and make bad decisions that result in fires.
How can we help?
This year we will come alongside World Vision’s outreach in West Virginia. Our long-time ministry partner, World Vision, has a dream to give a fire safety kit to every family they serve.
We will raise funds to order items for fire safety kits (smoke detectors, CO detector, and fire extinguishers). Each kit costs $131. In April, our intergenerational mission team will help assemble and distribute the kits.
We are excited to come alongside World Vision to meet this need in the community. The Fire Safety Kits will provide resources to save lives for years to come.
First, join us as we come together to provide funding for 150 homes. Any amount is greatly appreciated!

Secondly, would you pray about joining our team that will serve in West Virginia in April 9 – 13, 2017. Together we will assemble and begin distributing the kits.
